GO BANG! (DANNY KRIVIT EDIT OF WALTER GIBBONS REMIX)
I'LL TAKE YOU ON (DANNY KRIVIT EDIT OF LARRY LEVAN REMIX)

"A special double header of 2 very very dope Danny Krivit edits from then Sleeping Bag / Fresh Records vaults. Dinosaur L's immense 'Go Bang' takes up the A-side, with Mr.K tweaking the classic Walter Gibbons version into new sonic realms. Thoroughly minimal and spaced out in all the best ways and with a tense build-up, 'Go Bang' winds and winds until it feels like it's going to break! A brilliant reworking of a stone-cold classic that brings a fresh style to the familiar. On side B we are treated to a killer downtempo drum machine laden boogie-rap jam, namely the stellar Larry Levan mix of Hanson & Davis' 'I'll Take You On' from '86. Some primetime Garage sounds right here. A deep soulful cut that kicks and slams in all the right places, and is of course, touched up the right way by Danny's deft editing. Essential business right here, for real music lovers and dancers alike! Remastered, re-edited and re-presented to you for 2020, courtesy of Danny Krivit, Sleeping Bag / Fresh Records and Above Board distribution. 100% legit!"

Rolling Stones

Growing up in the 1960's it easy to say The Rolling Stones had a huge influence on me, & when I first started DJing there was a lot of rock in my sets, including The Rolling Stones. In the end of the 60's & early 70's I went to a lot of legendary top rock performances at places like the Fillmore East, Madison Sq Garden, & even Central Park. But I never got tickets to see the Stones live, as their US performances were expensive, & difficult to see.

I lived in Greenwich Village, & as fate would have it, one slightly rainy Thursday, May 1, 1975, I just happened to be walking down 5th Ave, about a block from my house at 12th St. when I heard the music of the Rolling Stones "Brown Sugar", outside on the street. It was strikingly louder than a boom box or car stereo, so I started to walk towards where I thought it was coming from, it was moving, so I had to walk faster. When I finally caught up to it, it was the actual Rolling Stones in person, performing live on the back of a flatbed truck to a small crowd of a couple hundred people, basically while the truck was moving, so just people that kept up walking along. It also seemed very clear that this was impromptu & unadvertised... a complete surprise to most everyone there, including me.

As I told friends what I saw later that day, they all basically said... "Get outta here!" I kind of expected no one would believe me... until it was mentioned on the news the next day. That was the only time I actually caught them live, but they still occasionally came out with some cool jams I could play in the club. Just a few years later they came out with one of their most popular club tracks "Miss You". In 2002 Dr. Dre did a Remix for Austin Powers's Goldmember movie. I did an edit of it back then that I just released yesterday on https://editsbymrk.com, enjoy 🙂 Danny

Remembering Whitney Houston

Remembering Whitney Houston... her amazing voice could make just about anything sound spectacular, hard to believe there were only 2 songs of hers I would pump in the club... The David Morales RMX of "Love Saves The Day" & Yvonne Turner RMX of "I'm Your Baby Tonight"... I do play them a lot, but wish there were more.

In 1985 I had just started a residency at a performance club on the upper west side at a place called Sweetwaters. My first night I would play music after that night's featured performer, Cissy Houston, who I liked & was very familiar with, but this was also the debut of her daughter, Whitney Houston. That was an unforgettable night & I became an instant fan.

For Body & Soul's MLK celebration I had the opportunity to play my edit of Yvonne Turner's fabulous remix of I'm Your Baby Tonight... & now finally released this past week on Bandcamp, enjoy, Danny Krivit :
